I have steadfastly been ignoring the deluge of media hype surrounding the selling of Britney Spears’ hair on eBay. Yes it was listed (I saw it), the auction has since been cancelled. Loads of scamming wannabees have listed what is supposedly Britney’s hair including (laughably) sellers in the UK. The original auction can be viewed in google cache.
If you are sad enough to want to own the genuine hair of the troubled singer who has now checked into a rehabilitation clinic, bids in excess of $1m are invited at buybritneyshair.com.
Rumours have been flying around that eBay themselves spread the “Britney’s hair on eBay” story, to deflect interest in the news concerning compromised accounts over the weekend. We’re happy to confirm that the Britney hype did not originate from eBay’s PR team.
My only thought is that I’m pleased the sorry saga is now off eBay and please can we never mention it again!
