It’s almost pointless to blog that it has snowed today but I’m going to anyway! Anyone that looked the window today is already well aware and probably has a view from their office similar to mine.
A more important point is that my courier is stuck in his yard in Oxfordshire (some of the drivers haven’t even made it in yet today). Any eBayer worth their salt will already have done the same as me and emailed all of their customers to inform them that deliveries will be delayed. As a seller you might think it obvious, but already two buyers have emailed me back thanking me and asking me to keep them informed when their items will be despatched.
It’s at times like this that the quicker you contact customers and let them know there’ll be a delay the better. Waiting around all day for a courier that may or may not make it through the snow and then stressing at 5pm because they haven’t turned up won’t do anyone any good. Early action solves more problems than procrastinating, and customers are amazingly understanding if you contact them before they contact you. It still begs the question as to why Britain grinds to a halt with five inches of snow when other countries happily cope with several feet.
As for me, I’m off home to build a snowman with the kids! We don’t get snow that often and it seems a shame to waste it.
