Too lame, too late

No primary category set

We posted last weekend that many UK sellers had noticed that their listings were no longer showing up on eBay.com. Now, a week later, eBay have finally made an announcement about what is going on:

We are currently testing different options for displaying UK-listed items on eBay.com, with the aim of balancing the needs of buyers with the visibility of items listed on eBay.co.uk. As a result, items listed on eBay.co.uk will no longer be guaranteed to appear within the default search results on eBay.com.

Sorry, eBay, but this is not good enough. “no longer guaranteed”? You’re messing with people’s livelihoods here, so please, have the decency to at least make a definite decision, inform them immediately what that decision is, and let them get on with trying to make money via your site. This kind of messing about doesn’t do anyone any good.

  1. Biddy, you know what we see now? We see Germany listings. UK sellers should be filing against a change in service level, because you paid for a listing to run with an expectation of exposure and ebay did a bait & switch. Message me Biddy!
