eBay not suitable for Marines

No primary category set

A Royal Marine taken hostage in Iran has been criticised for trying to sell the suit his captors gave him. Lance Corporal Mark Banks was one of fourteen Marines held for 13 days earlier this year. The shiny grey suits were given to them by the Iranians upon their release, but the Ministry of Defence ordered Banks to cancel his eBay auction for the suit.

A senior Royal Navy source told the Mail on Sunday, “He has behaved like a prat. This was a very stupid thing to do. But as he has committed no criminal offence, no further disciplinary action will be taken.” The suit was listed at 99p no reserve, and was offered with a certificate of authenticity, but failed to attract any bids in the seven days it was on the site.
