On Tuesday 22nd May, the Royal Horticultural Society Chelsea Flower Show opens to the public. Not to be outdone residents of Chesley Gardens in East Ham, London E6 are taking on the might of the Royal Horticultural Society’s annual bash in SW3 with The Chesley Flower Show 2007.
After finding that most Brits (79%) have an annual gardening budget of under £1000 eBay.co.uk has joined forces with TV gardener David Domoney and a normal east end street to prove that gorgeous gardens are within everyone’s reach.
The Chesley Flower Show, which has its own royal patronage – two stunning Pearly Queens – includes three feature gardens, made over on three different budgets. Created on budgets of £500, £1000 and £1,500, all items in the gardens are sourced from ebay.co.uk.
The three feature gardens are:
Fun in the Sun Garden: costing only around £500, the garden includes new turf, flowers, fencing and shed
Full English: for approximately £1000, this garden features new plants, flowers, turf and a stunning summer house
All Mod Cons: the most expensive garden at £1,500, this one contains everything a modern garden should, paving and gravel for a chic design, outdoor speakers and chic furniture
Corporate hospitality at Chesley consists of gallons of piping hot tea and cup cakes and unlike its esteemed cousin 10 miles away, gnomes and bunting are welcome.
David Domoney said, “There are many ways you can make your garden look expensive and eBay is a great place to find good deals. Whether you’re looking for new plants or turf, a new shed or even a swimming pool, eBay can provide what you need at bargain prices.â€
Matt Priddle, eBay, said, “the Chelsea Flower Show is something the vast majority of us can only dream of and means little when you have a 50 ft strip at the rear of your house and an even smaller budget. We’ve created The Chesley Flower Show to demonstrate that you don’t have to spend a fortune to get a great garden.â€
About some of the residents of Chesley Gardens
Odetta Graves, can usually be found relaxing in her garden. A keen amateur gardener herself she takes huge pride in growing new plants and adding in features from ponds to paving. On a limited budget, Odetta uses eBay to source new props and plants, keeping her garden up to date and stylish
Julia and David Yendall find that with two jobs, children and grandchildren, maintaining a pretty garden sometimes falls by the wayside. Keeping all members of the family happy whilst giving mum room to relax and dad storage for his beloved DIY tools is a priority
George and Sissy Smith have lived in Chesley Gardens for over 50 years. George loves tending the garden and has added a pond, a greenhouse and two pear trees over the years. Now, they are looking for something a bit more low maintenance and are over the moon at the easy-to-keep paving and gravel design all sourced via ebay
