There’s just a week to go until eBay Live! kicks off, and I’ve started to check my things to do list to make sure I don’t forget anything. Top of the list of course are tickets and passports. Travel and hotel tickets are no problem, I’ve had electronic tickets for weeks. eBay Live! passes are another matter though.
It was hard enough to book and pay for my tickets (eBay were unable to accept PayPal although they assure me that you can use PayPal now – I booked too early and the site hadn’t been PayPal enabled, although it was perfectly capable of taking payment from credit cards!).
Having booked the tickets I ticked the box to ask for them to be mailed to me. They still haven’t arrived so today I Skyped eBay to ask where they are. As soon as I mentioned I was in the UK they explained that they wouldn’t be posting the passes but we would have to pick them up at the registration desk. There was no mention on the eBay Live! registration that they wouldn’t post to the UK.
So there you have it. For all the sellers that have wanted to buy and sell worldwide, or even between the UK and the US. If it’s too difficult for eBay to post a couple of tickets from the US to the UK what chance for us mere eBayers?

I must say, I’m slightly nervous about flying halfway round the world on the *hope* that eBay will let me in :O
So eBay thinks international sales paid for by credit card or PayPal are too risky from their perspective. I wish eBay would highlight the risks as much as they seem to the benefits of accepting cards and online payments.
I think to be honest James that they’d just screwed up and not having PayPal set up when registrations opened is just a bit of inexcusable incompetance on their part 🙁
I’m sure it’s just laziness – their eBayana website doesn’t ship outside north America either.
