RM lose £8m Amazon contract

Royal Mail have lost an £8m contract to deliver Amazon’s second class post. An RM spokesman blamed their “failure to modernise” for the loss, though the company will continue to deliver Amazon’s first class post. The spokesperson said “Customers like Amazon are critical to us, and to our competitors. They represent an important area of growth in a market which is otherwise declining as fewer items of mail are sent.”

The blow comes the day before RM are due to meet with union officials in last ditch talks to head off industrial action.
