The annual Tamebay 2021 Black Friday Speed Test is underway. To test the resilience of deliveries over the Black Friday period, at 9.30am this morning we placed 15 orders split across the largest three UK general marketplaces – Amazon, eBay and OnBuy, and this is Update #1 based the the statuses at 10pm Sunday.
Update #1 reveals that OnBuy were not only the first to ship a product but also the first to deliver, although not the same item. The first delivery was 8am on Saturday morning (via Hermes) which is truly impressive – under 24 hours from the time of ordering.
Joint second to arrive was one parcel from OnBuy and one from Amazon, both delivered by Amazon Logistics on Saturday. Finally on Saturday, Royal Mail arrived with yet another OnBuy purchase. (As deliveries come in the table below will be updated to rank by delivery date/time.)
The one thing that’s abundantly clear in Update #1 is that retailers who’s shipments arrived first under-promised and over-delivered. For the first four parcels to be delivered, the average is 4.75 days earlier than the earliest promised delivery date.
Shipment notifications suggest that more parcels will be arriving imminently, so look out for further updates over the coming days.
