Don't you know there's a strike on?

Tomorrow’s strike by Royal Mail workers is to go ahead, with both sides accusing each other of bringing nothing new to the negotiating table. Compounding the problems are strikes by up to 85 crown Post Offices in protest at plans to move sites to within WHSmith branches: these are expected to take place Friday, the afternoon of Monday 16th and the morning of Thursday 19th.

Many eBay sellers reported after the last strike that their buyers were unaware that there was any strike on, and expected deliveries as normal. This is the time to manage your buyers’ expectations and keep them informed, so that any delayed deliveries due to strike action are not blamed on you.

  1. Sellers also need to be aware thet tomorrows strike starts today (at 7pm). Mail posted today that would normally be sorted and routed overnight is likely to languish in the mail system until Saturday before being sorted for a delivery next week.

  2. There was a parlous picket of about three at the Nine Elms Royal Mail depot in London as I passed this morning.

If you are going to strike, it does seem to me that part of the deal is joining the picket line. ;o)

    Maybe I’m old-fashioned.
