In a move unanounced to sellers giving them no time to participate in the promotion, eBay are sending out emails to buyers highlighting items with free postage. Previously when a free postage buyer promotion was run (in the run up to Christmas) it was coupled with prior notice to sellers and a cheap listing day to encourage sellers to participate.
The emails for the current promotion are being tailored to the buyers activity on the site. Depending on the type of products purchased previously different emails are sent, although they all have a link to the Free Postage landing page on eBay.

It seems a little strange that sellers have been given no notice of the buyer promotion, as sellers slowly receive emails it’s a bit late for them to list items with free postage to take advantage.
Did eBay simply forget to tell sellers or have the emails gone out to buyers ahead of schedule?
