Lynne Beckett is a busy lady! After a ten year career in nursing, ill health forced her to give up work in 2001. But it’s not what most people would term as “retirement”. She found more time for her hobby, cross stitching, and channeled her efforts into raising money for charity.
So far she’s raised over £16,500.00 in total of which £5000.00 came through eBay for Charity and Missionfish. Having donated some items to Acorns Children’s Hospice for sale at fundraising events which she assists at, she sold them on the idea of selling on eBay. At the beginning of 2007 Lynne set up acorns4children on eBay with 100% of the profits being donated to Acorns.
Lynne has been recognised many times for her tireless fundraising winning “Charity Stitcher” and “Overall Stitcher of the Year” in The Stitcher of The Year Awards 2004. Her achievement on eBay was recognised when her story was told as the Featured PowerSeller and this week at the eBay Backstage Awards ceremony Lynne was chosen as the Charity Seller of the Year 2007.
When I asked Lynne about her achievement she told me she was amazed to be nominated as the winner.
With encouragement from her husband she was called to the stage to a huge and well deserved round of applause and presented with her trophy by eBay UK’s Managing Director, Doug McCallum.
