There appears to be a problem with eBay listings when displayed in the FireFox browser. The postage isn’t displaying a cost, but instead displays the line “Postage costs: To Taiwan — Not specified”

From the same auction Internet Explorer displays the postage costs correctly which for this auction are “Dispatches to United Kingdom” only.

I’m not sure what is causing this, nor why a random country such as Taiwan is picked up. One thing is for sure though – none of the auctions I’ve checked that show “Postage costs: To Taiwan” actually offer shipping to that country.

The problem is javascript related. The cheap or poorly-trained programmers haven’t followed industry-standard guidelines and have programmed only for MS Internet Explorer (which doesn’t provide 100% support for the javascript library).
Fortunately the problem is easily solved if eBay get their programmers to fix the error of their ways.
Frankly I think eBay’s programmers should quit using Javascript. They never manage to make it work properly, quite often it’s broken in IE too, and if you complain to CS about it, you get an email back telling you how to turn of Javascript error notification messages 🙄
I am a Mac user and in the last two weeks I am unable to upload scans to eBay listings when using Firefox (2.0.0.13) BUT i can if I use Safari. Unfortunately if I use Safari to do the listings then I have no access to those handy drop down boxes with previously written messages.
I have no turbo lister because it does not work with a Mac.
Anyone got any suggestions.
When I wrote to Powerseller help on eBay I got back a reply which said USE FIREFOX!!!!
Oh and yes I have seen these postage problems and from time time get emails from puzzled potential buyers
I’m afraid I dunno Andrew, but I can report some strange happenings with certain code on websites and Firefox 3 Beta so an upgrade may not be the answer 🙁
