TameBay on Twitter

No primary category set

For those of you who are using Twitter, you can now get links to TameBay posts as tweets by following us.

For everyone else who’s now saying “huh?”, Twitter is something like a cross between a blog, IM and Facebook status. You can post very short posts (up to 140 characters), which can be useful for telling people you’ve gone to the post office, or – um – being connected. Or pimping your blog out, of course.

  1. Welcome to Twitter! This may have legs and has a number of “geeks” already using it to provide real-time updates. The best example I have seen to-date is Dell sending coupon codes via Twitter.

There are a number of good tools around this already, one of the most interesting is http://www.tweetscan.com which is a search engine against Twitter posts, essentially a means to monitor if someone’s mentioning you, and in what context.

  2. Thanks Max! I’ve had a personal Twitter for about a year and to be honest, never saw the point: I’d post stuff like “I’ve gone to the post office” and people would still email/Skype/phone me going “where are you?” 😆

Then yesterday I found Twitter Feeds, which seemed quite a useful tool – or at least, just another way to let people pick up the blog, which I can’t complain about. I think it’s like RSS – if that’s the way that works for you, then it’s a good way to get information. Doesn’t work for everyone, obviously, but then what does.

  3. I dont think anyone would like to here my twitter details

peed my pants because I could not leave computer,
or I have terminal constipation because I cant leave my computer

    my backside has grown roots,

    my nose is running
    my toenails need cutting,
the shiney spot on top of my bonce hasd gone dull with the dust settling on it,
    etc etc etc

  4. I think the medium of real-time updates / broadcasts is here to stay. To some people you want to announce everything you do because they’re close friends or family. There’s http://www.friendfeed.com that aggregates these kind of updates and for my immediate circle I want to read what kind of photos they uploaded (from their kids, etc.), what they bought on eBay or Amazon, etc.

The opportunity for businesses is to build (incrementally) a closer relationship (at a relatively low cost) with your customers. Share coupons, blog posts, new products, etc.

    It’s all permission-based anyway so it’s easy to opt-out.

  5. How the heck do you get to follow someone? I don’t WANT to share my entire email address book… I just want to follow Tamebay… Can I find a follow button like they say? no….

all I get is give us your email addy and password.

    No, I don’t think so…

  6. Not on mine there’s not…

    👿

I’ve checked all the screens. Made sure I’m logged in. The Help page says there should be a follow button on your profile, but not on mine….

maybe I just won’t bother with it then…

  7. ahahaha! found it…
Oh, it is so loud and inyourface in that lovely dingy grey colour… 🙄

I think it must have looked like part of the logo before… 😳
    thank you Sue!
