Are you spamming your customers?

No primary category set

I’ve noticed recently that SMP is sending out duplicate automated emails to a large proportion of buyers, in particular the “Payment Received Notification” email.

You can easily check which emails have been sent by clicking the number against the customer record in the Emails Sent column of SMP sold items.

I’m crossing my fingers that buyers view too much communication better than not enough, or simply write the duplicated emails off to a glitch on their server, rather than ding me on DSRs.

So far I’ve had no complaints, but it’s one worth keeping a check to see just how many emails your customers are receiving.

  1. Nothing new there Chris, just another ebay mess that users have to clean up. I was moaning on here to Sue about it last week in her post about getting the best out of ebay emails. Customer got 7 payment received emails, ebay record says 2 sent………

  2. It’s been happening since the end of April. I mentioned it to my PAM and it’s been escalated to technical support – last update I had was 20th May to say it’s still being worked on and there should be a solution fairly soon.

  3. Here’s the response I received about this issue on May 16 from customer support:

    Dear ,

Thank you for contacting us with the problems you are having with your selling manager duplicating email.

This is an issue that our developers have identified and are working on a resolution to. We expect to see the fix pushed to the site in the near future.

It is my pleasure to assist you. Thank you for choosing eBay.

    Sincerely,

Near future? I too am concerned my communication stars are going to suffer from excess emailing.
