eBay partners locally in Vietnam

The Mercury News reports that eBay is to partner with a local start-up company in Vietnam. eBay.vn will redirect to ChoDienTu.vn, run by PeaceSoft Solutions, a 3-year-old start-up backed by IDG Ventures, “the dominant player” in Vietnam’s internet industry. The co-branded site looks like a similar arrangement to the one eBay has in China with local company Tom Group.

Out of a population of 85 million, Vietnam is estimated to have 20 million internet users, and this is predicted to rise to as many as 36 million within the next two years.
