Will the Skype dance come to a club near you?

No primary category set

Most people know how to type an emoticon without even thinking about it. They’ve become so ingrained in our lives from IM to email and even on mobile SMS text messages that :-) is pretty much universally understood.

In recent times :-) automatically displays as 🙂 (can any one still remember the early days when they didn’t?) and some emoticons are even animated such as 😆

Skype DanceThat’s about as much thought as I’d normally give emoticons until I saw on the Skype Journal that some guy has actually gone so far as learning the Skype Dance. Skype Dance is just one of the emoticons for available for use in Skype chat but this guy would like to see people doing the “Skype Dance” in clubs. If you’re out clubbing at the weekend keep an eye out for people doing the Skype Dance 😉

  1. What a sweet guy!

But I see a lot of black eyes coming out of this… (insert that emoticon where you roll your eyes and no I don’t know the codes for them all…)
only ones I know are 🙂 and 😀

and I never know if you put the – in or not…

have you got a link to somewhere that gives the keyboard smilies that work on here? Pretty please?

and what does Ninja look like (I imagine a lot of bent knees outstretched arms and Ha! sounds..)

  4. Here you go Lynne, here’s the text based ones which should be easier to remember

  5. “If you’re out clubbing at the weekend keep an eye out for people doing the Skype Dance”

Drunken over 40’s males have been doing that dance for years…especially at wedding receptions 😉 lol

  6. (can any one still remember the early days when they didn’t?) ‘

Yes, because like any right thinking person I still send and receive email in plain text not HTML. I’d like to request biddy turns off all the emoticon extras which reform my ASCII text into emoticons.

Its simple: HTML for web pages, plain text for email.

As for dancing sh**e, grow up!

  7. #15 In order to generate the :-) instead of 🙂 in the post I had to write ASCII characters – if you type your smilies in long hand ASCII characters they’ll appear unrendered ;-) 😉
