eBay have joined forces with The Industry Trust for IP Awareness, reaffirming their stance against physical and digital copyright theft.
It’s a bit more seroius than the “Knock off Nigel” adverts from last year, and builds on the work from “eBay Against Counterfeits” campaign which launched in 2007.
The Industry Trust for IP Awareness was established in 2004 to tackle film and TV copyright theft in the UK. Today it has more than 30 members including Film and TV distributors, cinemas, DVD retailers and home entertainment rental companies.
“eBay has already demonstrated its commitment to tackling copyright theft, so we’re delighted to welcome them as a member of the Industry Trust. They will be a valued asset in our ongoing behaviour change campaign.”
Liz Bales, Director-General of the Industry Trust
There’s also a competition to enter to win a DVD, simply answer the question “The film industry directly and indirectly supports how many jobs in the UK?” for a chance to win.

Hopefully this will be more effective than last year’s “Counterfeits actually cost more because they are lower quality” spiel.
And make sure nobody mentions that lawsuit over the IP infringement that the “Buy Item Now” acronym spawned.
