In conjunction with the publication of their new Rental Index, Gumtree have launched a new site dedicated to assisting property owners to rent out their homes with an introduction from Sarah Beeny, best known from the TV “Property Ladder” show.
Coining the phrase “unplandlord” the Gumtree site has a guide to becoming an unexpected landlord. Sarah says “In the past two years, more and more people in the UK have become landlords, whether it’s because of recent redundancies, expanding families or an inability to sell at a level people wish to. I suspect we will see more and more ‘unplandlords’ emerge.”
According to Sanjay Balakrishnan, Gumtree Marketing Director, the site has ambitious plans to attract new audiences to the site and focus on key channels, including property and recruitment, in a bid to grow its audience. The new Gumtree Rental Index marks the start of their new awareness campaign.
Anything that attracts new visitors to the Gumtree has has got to be good news for sellers. It has to be one of the best ways to liquidate stock which either isn’t suitable for eBay or is simply too big to ship and the more awareness of the site the more successfully it can be used as an alternative sales channel (and of course those placing property or recruitment ads on the site are the ones who currently pay leaving the site free to use for us sellers).
