On viewing the item page of a recent purchase I was greeted with the message “Congratulations! You bought this item. View order details. Return this item.”
Now I haven’t even received the product yet, and I know buyers have rights and one of those rights under the Distance Selling Regulations is to return an item bought over the Internet if it’s not suitable, but how easy should it be for a buyer to return a purchase? In my mind there’s a difference between a buyer making a decision to contact the seller and request a return, to being provided with a returns link the instant they’ve paid.
I don’t normally review the item page once I’ve made a purchase and now I’m hoping most buyers don’t either! There’s a fine line between being made aware of your right to return an item as opposed to actively encouraging buyers to try before they buy. eBay are getting very close to crossing that line.
