A little glimmer of good news for today: eBay UK has announced that it will suspend the dispatch time score in Detailed Seller Ratings during the postal strike.
The option for buyers to rate sellers on dispatch time will be temporarily removed for the duration of the strike and for an unspecified period afterwards. Buyers will also be notified that the DSR criterion has been removed for now: though it’s marked *dispatch* time on the UK site, some buyers use this score to express frustration with poor carrier service and delayed deliveries. The original verision of the AB post copied here said this would be from the 15th; this has now been edited out and the assumption is that the star will disappear when the strike starts.
eBay add that
we are working with a number of alternative postal carriers to ensure sellers can provide the levels of service that are critical in the run up to Christmas.
There’ll be more news on this as soon as we get it.
Mark Lewis, eBay UK’s MD has written an open letter to Business Secretary Lord Mandelson, expressing his concern that at the damage the strike will do to small businesses. Those who would like the government to intervene to bring the strike to an end might like to sign this petition on the Number 10 website started by PowerSeller Rachael from Thingimijigs.
