Someone in the US is having a good weekend, their new, factory sealed aff_link("https://cgi.ebay.com/FACTORY-SEALED-NEW-NES-NINTENDO-STADIUM-EVENTS-NTSC_W0QQitemZ140384097750QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_Vintage_Video_Games?hash=item20af8b55d6","Nintendo NES Stadium Events game","","UK"); ?> sold for $41,300.00 on Friday. A copy of Stadium Events, which was briefly launched in the US and then recalled to be re-branded World Class Track Meet is apparently the rarest of all NES games.
It appears to be a classic eBay story – thinking that the game would be worth around $10,000 the seller said “I am selling because I didn’t think I had anything of value. Then I saw that one lady sell her system and games for what she did. Upon checking the boxes that had sat in my basement for nearly 20 years, I hit gold!”
If you missed out on this one there’s another aff_link("https://cgi.ebay.com/Stadium-Events-Nes-game_W0QQitemZ110499541029QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_Vintage_Video_Games?hash=item19ba493025","sealed version of Stadium Events","","UK"); ?> on eBay with bidding up to a miserly $13,100.00 with two days left to run. Suddenly it makes buying a Wii and a copy of Wii Sports look like a bargain!
If you’re in Europe and have a copy laying around sadly it’s not nearly as valuable. The going rate for a PAL version appears to be around $1000.00.

You’d think that when selling an item that recently went for $40000 they’d spend some time to make the listing look and sound at least somewhat professional.
Ummm bidding has gone up a little now. Over 100k so looks like a very good day or more likely auction wrecking.
The price ended US$800,200.00 for the second one.
