It’s only two months into the New Year and already there are changes happening in the ecommerce industry. The country is out of recession, eBay is changing by rolling back mandatory free post in the UK, rolling out SIF in core in the US and raising minimum seller standards. Amazon is steadfastly bucking the trend and every seller I speak to says sales on the “river” are up.
The big question is where should you be focusing your efforts in 2010, will eBay changes close the gap on Amazon and accelerate growth? eBay UK is doing pretty well helped mainly by the weak pound making exports attractive to Europe but eBay worldwide has at last halted the decline in sales and is back in positive growth.
Tomorrow Scot Wingo of ChannelAdvisor is holding a webinar, where he promises to look back at 2009 and see what happened in the world of ecommerce and specific channels like paid search, comparison shopping engines and marketplaces like eBay, Amazon and Buy.com. Then he’ll look at some 2010 forecasts, January results and some announcements / data already shaking the ecommerce world. Finally, he’ll talk about ‘emerging’ channels such as social media and mobile and how they are starting to impact on ecommerce.
If you want to listen in the webinar starts at 7:00pm GMT on the 11th February and should last around an hour.
