eBay apparently made an error on the price of one of today’s Daily Deals and advertised it at £9.99 instead of £11.99. It appears that they’re dipping into their own coffers to make good the difference. With approaching 250 sold it’s not a huge amount of money, looking to be around £500 or so in total, but it shows the importance of the Deal of the Day program to eBay.
Buyers who paid £11.99 for the have received the following email informing them of the mistake and confirming that they’ll be receiving a refund
“Unfortunately due to an oversight at eBay they have listed the price for this incorrectly on their Deal of the Day email. However eBay have agreed to honour this price and match the email £9.99 for this item.
As your order has already been paid for we will refund the £2 difference. This will be processed and refunded back to your PayPal account in the next 2 working days. We are sorry for inconvenience caused and hope you will be delighted with your order.

Still no £2.00 refund, another thing would you send a message to a buyer and sign off with “Love From”
Sorry John but the kiss at the end killed it for me :-p
I like eBay and wont have a wrong word said against them. In all fairness, they will still be sending out scripted template emails that have nothing to do with the issue before the refunds could ever start to be processed.
At my age, I’m done with leaping anywhere for anyone lol.. They get what I can muster up and nowt else..
Love
Keith (no kisses)
I think it has been lovely to see this courting exchange played out.
I am off to look for a hat.
£500 is a cheap price for some positive press.
While it does set a precedent, of sorts, they have nearly complete control over the circumstances – so the risk is low.
My guess is that you will never see such gestures when the resulting precedent could apply to any and all buyers and/or sellers.
dont think love will have much to do with it,
the fear of a big kick up the jacksie from trading standards thats done it
Refund was in my paypal account this morning, i can eat this week now!!
We all make mistakes. Now will eBay look at the margin of error they allow sellers to operate at before limiting them?
