Amazon will expand fashion categories

No primary category set

The FT is reporting that Amazon is relaunching its fashion lines with a focus on high-end lines. The company says it will build “great new features to change the way people shop for clothing”, as it attempts to compete with fashion specialists like Yoox and Net a Porter.

It’s hard not to link this with eBay’s recent pushing of its own fashion outlets. Though Amazon UK’s Clothing Shoes and Watches section is still in beta, their purchase of shoe store Zappos last year for more than $800 million signals just how important this sector is going to be in coming years.
