eBay France announces fee changes

No primary category set

eBay France has published its new fee schedule today. Insertion fees for 30 day and valide jusqu’à annulation (GTC) listings have been abolished.

Boutique subscriptions are all to be €19,95 per month, with only “Boutique Premium” now available. Sellers will need a Boutique subscription to take advantage of the free insertion fees above.

In common with other eBay sites, final value fee tranches have also been abolished. FVFs are now fixed at 7% of the final price (9% in Media categories and 5% in Tech), for both auctions and fixed price listings. For auction sellers, this is quite a hefty increase: old pricing was 6.5% up to €50, and 4.5% between €50 and €500. But for fixed price listings, sellers have been paying 9% on the first €50 and 6% above that, so items costing €150 or less, fees will be reduced.

Some other new policies have also been announced, mostly in line with those already issued for the UK and US:

  • global seller standards are to be enforced;
  • duplicate listings (this follows the UK model of applying to fixed price only; up to 15 identical auctions are permitted);
  • more detailed item condition options in Media categories;
  • changes to Powerseller qualification criteria.

You can find more detail on the changes on eBay.fr in the full announcement. The changes take effect in May.

  1. That’s great. eBay.fr is on Tamebay 🙂
    In addition to the new fees, the biggest change is the introduction of multi-variation listings.
    On the otherside, eBay.fr is the more competitive french marketplaces compare to Priceminister or Amazon.

  2. I am a bit confused. The october 2010 – may 2011 promotion was solely for french residents. They now state that such specific promotion will turn permanent, but they have not clarified if it will be only for french residents or international sellers are included as well. I don’t know if to be happy for this or not, because not being a french resident, I don’t know if I will still apply for this new fees structure. I think I will because there doesn’t seem to be an alternative one, but anyway. Does anyone know if this will apply to all sellers (french residents and international too)?
