eBay have upgraded the Tracking Number entry for sellers to enable them to specify tracking number for any carrier when despatching their parcels. You can now scan or type in your tracking number and manually type in the carrier instead of selecting from a pre-populated drop down list. Even better for some carriers such as Royal Mail the form automatically recognises the tracking number format and automatically populates the carrier field.
There have also been improvements identifying shipments which now display SMP Record number, eBay User ID, Name, Postcode and item title and number. There is also a facility to add additional tracking numbers so that if a sale is shipped in more than one parcel you can add all the relevant tracking details for your customers.
This will be a very welcome upgrade for those who use carriers previously not on the drop down selection list. If you use the likes of Interlink, Citylink, UK Mail, Fed Ex, UPS etc then you can now add your tracking numbers to inform buyers that their item is on the way which should reduce the number of “Where’s my item?” questions you receive.
Another important advantage is that you’ll get greater seller protection if you enter tracking numbers before buyers make a claim for non-delivery.

A token effort by eBay to try and solve the problem of so many INR claims on eBay.
Only problem is, most sellers can’t aford to post with tracking due to the low sales prices…
eBay, you really should try to raise the standard of buyer you attract.
