This week sees TameBay friend James Scott leaving ChannelAdvisor to start a new adventure – James is emigrating to America with his family and we wish him every success along with our thanks for his help over the years.
Speaking of his time at ChannelAdvisor who he joined in 2005, James told us “I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time at ChannelAdvisor and am proud to be able to look back and reflect on the many successes we’ve celebrated over the last six and a half years. Throughout that time ChannelAdvisor has evolved from a startup to the preeminent multichannel solution for Europe’s most successful online retailers – this was an incredible journey that involved a lot of hard work, but above all, was a lot of fun. I have been fortunate enough to work with a bunch of extremely talented and smart people, many of whom I now count as close friends, and I look forward to following the success of these colleagues and ChannelAdvisor in the future.”
James will be much missed by his colleagues, both in the UK, the US and around the world. David Spitz, ChannelAdvisor COO, paid tribute to James saying “Over the last six and a half years, James has built our European presence to more than 70 employees serving hundreds of customers across Europe, an area that now accounts for a significant and growing proportion of ChannelAdvisor’s overall turnover. James’ contributions to ChannelAdvisor are innumerable and we are grateful for his tireless dedication in establishing ChannelAdvisor as a preeminent brand for retailers in the UK and Europe“.
Looking to the future David added “With James’ departure we are actively seeking a new managing director for EMEA. We have invested heavily in our EMEA growth over the past year; we have doubled our European staff and EMEA is currently our fastest-growing geography. We are looking forward to bringing in seasoned management, new talent and fresh ideas to help take us to the next level as we continue our European expansion“. ChannelAdvisor have a challenge on their hands here, it’s going to be a tall order to find a replacement as committed as James has been.
I’ve known James personally since before TameBay was founded, and he has been a constant supporter of the site since the beginning. James has always been available to bounce ideas off, as well as a source of much news and tips for our readers over the years. I’m hoping to still be able to bend his ear as I hear he’ll be doing some ecommerce consultancy over the next few months, but in the mean time we’d like to wish James, his wife and children safe passage to the US and our best wishes for the future.
