Sue’s Symposium

Many people have asked whether we will be having a get together to remember Sue, and bowing to popular demand we couldn’t really resist the opportunity to gather folks together for Sue’s Symposium.*

We envisage a convivial gathering, with drinks and nibbles, in a pub. Nothing fancy or sad. We’re asking anyone who worked with Sue, knew or appreciated Sue’s many endeavours to come and raise a glass.

Time: Friday October 7th at 7pm

Place: All Bar One, 108 New Oxford Street, London, WC1A 1HD

Also, for those interested, some keen folk are going to have a tramp around the British Museum. Sue loved the British Museum and in particular loved the Anglo-Saxon galleries. That’s what she studied at Uni too. We’ll gather on the steps of the British Museum at 5:30pm. The British Museum is free.

Please let us know in comments below if you’re going to attend and we’ll email everyone a mobile phone number so that you can make contact with us on the day.

* A symposium was an Ancient Greek “drinking party”. Unlike back then, women are free to attend. And we won’t have slave boys playing the flute.

  1. Sounds fab, sadly I won’t be able to make it because of family commitments but I hope everyone who attends has a great time and raises a glass to Sue, she was a great woman and I miss her.

  2. I guess that there will be many like me who cannot attend. My apologises to everybody but I shall be there in spirit if not in person and I will try to raise a glass in memory to Sue during the time the symposium is being held.

  3. I shall be there, and shall see you all on the steps to celebrate Sue in Anglo Saxon style 🙂 (although she may actually have enjoyed a little Viking rape and pillage…)

  4. hi Chris, All. I would love to attend, but unfortunately that is the day I go into hospital for my op. Will be there in spirit. All the best Sean_CoolNess

  5. I would love to be there, can’t confirm it yet, but if I don’t make it I will be there in spirit xxxx
*raises a glass to the lovely Sue*

  6. I’ve just heard that Sue has died – what a blow to lose someone so vital and generous. We were close friends at college (we learnt Anglo-Saxon together, a long time ago now!) and hadn’t been in touch for a while, but all the things I’ve seen written about her ring totally true to my vivid memories of Sue. I don’t think I can come on Friday, but will be thinking of you all, and of her.

  7. I have beed trying to find a way to come to Sue’s symposium.
Sue helped me in the early days with her advice etc about using eBay, and I met her a couple of time at eBay university. She will be greatly missed by many for her sound advice.

Sadly I am unable to come along but will be thinking of Sue, and will raise a glass to her memory.

  8. Am looking forward to the marmalade!

For those that can’t make it if you raise a glass in Sue’s memory tonight feel free to add a comment, I’ll relay as many comments as I can to those there in person but seeing as Sue lived a lot of her life online it’s rather fitting that her Symposium will be partly an online affair too!

  9. Just left the pub, fantastic to see some familiar faces celebrating the life of such a special lady. I have think we did her proud.

  10. I’m sorry I could not be there last night to remember Sue. Sue was a great person. I met her a few times at the PowerSeller meets at eBay University. She will be missed.

  11. Many thanks to everyone that made the trip into London last night.

I’d also like to thank all those of you that emailed, texted and tweeted and everyone else that was taking part by raising a glass at home. It was very special to know that so many people around the world were all remembering Sue at the same time.
