Royal Mail sell off UK’s largest delivery office

Royal Mail have announced that they have agreed to sell their central London Delivery Office in Rathbone Place, which serves W1, WC1 and WC2.

The 2.3 acre site, just off the eastern end of Oxford Street, is being bought by Great Portland Estates for £120m, and Royal Mail will be vacating it in mid 2013. Work will be relocated to Mount Pleasant when the £32m redevelopment of that site is complete. Rathbone Place is currently the UK’s largest delivery office.

This is part of the restructuring of Royal Mail’s London operation, which they announced some time ago, and which includes the closure of South London and East London Mail Centres.
