At the Internet Retailing conference I had the opportunity to talk to Tayyab Akhlaq who runs My1stWish along with his three brothers. Unknown to me they had also launched a second business – Genie and the Geek. Genie and the Geek was set up last year and specialises in building clients business through marketplaces such as eBay and Amazon.
As they work with many large retailers and eBay Fashion Outlet sellers, I was interested to find out more about how Genie and the Geek assist their clients.
How did MyFirstWish and Genie and the Geek start?
The My1stWish retail business started from the bedroom as a footwear online retailer four years ago. Opening an eBay store was the first step and due to its quick expansion has since amassed stores on a variety of market places and platforms, including Amazon and a recently opened online department store.
Due to the innovative and creative team behind the retail business, the company has become highly lucrative and well regarded within the ecommerce sector. Genie and the Geek was established as a basis for business development, expertise and consultation within the industry. Collectively the team has over 15 years experience of ecommerce, creative design, marketing, research and business management.

Overview of Genie and the Geek team and departments
The company has a team of over 20 individuals based in our offices in Manchester with another 30 staff members working from overseas offices.
Genie and the Geek can assist with eBay Store Design, help Brands to sell through the eBay Fashion Outlet, provide full Service Provision, Increase the value of your out of season stock, provide Business Intelligence and Monthly Reporting. We can also increase the online profile of your business and are experienced in providing Daily Deals management.
Listing Department
Our listing department are experts at listing your stock and creating exciting content for your products. We already have expertise in fashion, footwear, health and beauty, electronics, home & garden and many more. We are able to advertise and write copy about your products with or without having the products physically in our offices.
Fulfilment
A highly efficient and experienced packing department will take great care of packing and mailing your orders to your customers from our warehouse. We are able to receive and process your deliveries, perform stock checks and hold stock on your behalf for a true fulfilment service. We currently have many couriers who come for collections on a daily basis.
Customer Service
We have both an inbound and online customer service presence that is always at hand to offer help, advice and answer any queries. We offer Customer Service outsourcing services where you can have UK based customer services representatives who care about upholding the image of your company
Photography Department
