Ecommerce solutions provider BigCommerce, formerly known as Interspire, has attracted a huge $15 million funding round from investors as it seeks to expand its current offerings that include web storefronts, SEO help, social media marketing and full integration with smartphones.
Big Commerce CEO Eddie Machaalani said of the investment: “We’ve been pushing back on outside funding because we’re profitable and we didn’t need the money. But our product has really taken off, and it made sense to raise capital and take advantage of the market’s potential.” BigCommerce, which is based in Australia and the US, claims to already power an astonishing 20k web storefronts who have done more than $350m in sales.

We’d love to hear from any merchants out there that are already using BigCommerce. It seems like we’re going to be hearing a whole lot more from them.

We switched from Romancart to Interspire in April this year and we are really pleased with it. The only thing it doesn’t do is address verification with HSBC payment engine which I would have thought was pretty essential. As a result we are changing to Barclaycard payments online with Sagepay to improve our security.
