For the second year in a row people are going mad for the with the whole orange baked into the middle. As a special sold in Waitrose supermarkets for just £13.99, the pudding has a whole candied orange in the centre.
Following last year’s mega sell out Waitrose ordered 75,000 this year – three times what they ordered last year, but early indications are that they’re going to be sold out soon. There’s little chance of Waitrose getting many more as it takes seven weeks to produce the candied orange which goes in the centre.
If you’re a Heston fan then this year there are also on offer. At £3.29 for six these are also fetching inflated prices on eBay.

Years ago when I was out Wholesaling until Christmas Eve we found a very simple way to get around me being totally shattered on Christmas Day and mucking up Christmas for the whole family. We had our “Official” Christmas in February.
In case anybody says “But Jesus Christ was born on Christmas Day(December 25th)”. Rubbish. The Early Church picked on December 25th for Christmas Day because there was already the Pagan Midwinter Festival. The Early Church knew that if you take over the Pagan Religions Sites(Many Early Churches are built on top of Roman Temples or Pagan Sites) and Festivals(most Christian Festivals are timed to replace previous Pagan Festivals-including Christmas Day) then you destroy the previous Religions.
So us picking a date in February mattered not a jot(in fact the Christians will tell you that if this bloke Jesus Christ did exist it is possible that he was actually born in February).
Great advantage with February is that chaos is long since forgotten and things such as Heston Blumenthal Christmas Puddings(or indeed other makes of Christmas Puddings might have been available in the Post Christmas Sales at lower prices.
Surely this pud can’t be that good ?
Middle class nightmare!
