The British Open at Royal Lytham & St Annes tee’d off on Thursday this week and all eyes are on the US Masters Champion Bubba Watson. Having won the Masters a couple of months ago with an incredible recovery shot out of the pine needles, he’ll need all his skill and a little bit of luck to triumph again in the Open.
Of course we’d normally not take too much note of golf on Tamebay, but we’ve spotted that not only are , but he’s also running some charity auctions on eBay. He uses a pink Ping G20 Driver to draw attention to his charity work and aims to raise at least $1 million for charity this year, hence running the auctions while the British Open is in play.
The current auctions include his : Phil Mickelson, Hunter Mahan, Bubba Watson, Jim Furyk, Steve Stricker, Dustin Johnson, Jeff Overton, Matt Kuchar, Stewart Cink, Rickie Fowler, Zach Johnson, Tiger Woods and team captain Corey Pavin. There’s also a , one of only 100 made by Ping and a replica of the one used by Bubba.
Sadly, although it’s the British Open, the auctions are being run on eBay.com, and we don’t know what the shipping to the UK is likely to cost. Kompolt who are running the auctions simply state winning bidders outside the US will need to supply “a fed ex account number or credit card to cover any duties or taxes“. Figure that’s going to be extortionate shipping then, personally I’d at least like an estimate of costs before I bid.
Bubba is selling his Ryder Cup golf bag to raise money for Ronald McDonald house in Stamford and the other three items to raise funds for Bright Pink, a cancer charity. The auctions run for 10 days to the 29th July.
