Earlier this year I needed a new mobile handset and in the end plumped for the aff_link("https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/120930449926","HTC One X","","UK"); ?> for £479.99. Normally I’d wait until I was due a free handset upgrade when my contract expired, but HTC’s deal with Vodafone means they’re only allowed to sell them on new contract. The phone was so good I had to have one so reluctantly I paid full price for a SIM free One X.
I couldn’t be happier with the phone though, it’s lighter than an iPhone, has a bigger screen with 1280 x 720 (HD 720p) resolution and does just about everything I could ever want.
Running Android 4 with HTC Sense it’s much improved over my last Android phone. Email in particular now has a universal inbox for as many POP3 accounts as you like. Married with a 1.5 GHz, quad-core processor the performance is brilliant.
As a bonus it’s equipped with two cameras, the rear camera can record full HD 1080p video with a 1.3 megapixel front camera (720p) for video chat, and yes it works with Skype.
My main uses for a smart phone (apart from phone calls and text messages) is for mobile email and browsing. For this it’s a brilliant device, the screen is large enough to display full websites with zoom and scroll performing beautifully and yet at the same time still being compact enough to fit in my jeans pocket.
If you buy this mobile then you must buy a car mount – the phone has a car mode giving easy access to phone and map functions along with music and Internet Radio (which unlike most mobiles with the HTC One X you can listen to without a headset to act as an aerial).
If you’re in the market for a new smartphone make sure you get to physically try an HTC One X before you buy a different model. If you’re ready to buy then this week’s eBay Deals have refurbished aff_link("https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/120930449926","HTC One X on sale for just £299.99","","UK"); ?> which is a bargain. I wish eBay had had this deal running when I bought mine as the £180 saving would have been more than welcome.
