After a day’s break with no British gold medals at the Olympics, the Royal Mail printers are rolling churning out gold medal stamps again and the delivery vans are standing by to rush them to 500 Post Offices in time to have them on sale by lunch time tomorrow.

“Dancing horses” was how a friend of mine described the event today, and if you’ve never seen dressage free style it’s a joy to behold. You really don’t need to know the difference between a passage and piaffe to enjoy the show, the elegance of horse and rider is more than enough.
Charlotte joins an elite group of Olympians, with Laura Trott being the only other British woman so far in this year’s Olympic Games to win a second gold medal.
You’ll be able to buy Charlotte’s gold medal stamp in her hometown of Enfield tomorrow. Royal Mail painted a post box gold in Enfield to celebrate her first gold medal, so this time they’ll paint a pillar box in Newent, Gloucestershire, where she lives and trains.
Nicola Adams Women’s Boxing Fly Weight
A second gold medal win for the British women today and this time it’s a truly historic win. Not only is it the first time a woman has ever won a medal in boxing, it’s the first time that women have ever competed in every event open to men and the first ever women’s boxing gold medal.
It’s yet another gold medal for the most decorated area of the UK, Yorkshire has had more gold medals awarded to their athletes than most countries competing in the London 2012 Games. They now have five golds, two silvers and three bronzes which would if they were a country put them 11th in the medal table.
You’ll be able to buy Nicola’s gold medal stamps in her home town of Leeds at two Post Offices (The Markets, 6 – 16 New York Street and St Johns, 116 Albion Street). Royal Mail will also paint a pillar box gold in Leeds in Nicola’s honour, they’ve been on the phone to her proud mum who has helped them choose which post box to paint!
Jade Jones Women’s 57kg Taekwondo
Today’s medals have all been won by women, one for elegance and two for fighting. This the third gold medal of the day goes to Jade Jones, the Welsh teenager from Flint for high kicking Taekwondo.
Jade is now Britain’s first ever Olympic Taekwondo champian and yet she’s only 19 years old.
What’s even more remarkable is that she fought her first bout of the day at 10.30 this morning, and still had the energy to win scoring her last point as the clock ran down at 10.15pm this evening.
Royal Mail will rush her gold medal stamp to the printers in time for distribution to Post Offices around the country tomorrow, including near Jade’s nearest Post Office at 15, Henblas Street, Wrexham. The late time of Jade’s win means that the stamp will be the fastest Royal Mail has ever produced – a touch over 12 hours from winning her gold medal to it being available to buy in her local Post Office, as well as 500 other Post Offices around the country!
Jade will of course also get a gold post box in her home town of Flint, North Wales.
