Rarer by far than the Olympic Relay Torches, there are only 600 Paralympic Torches for the London 2012 Games and so far there’s only one .
The torches consist of an inner and an outer aluminium alloy skin held in place by a cast top and base. Unlike the gold finish of the Olympic Torches, the Paralympic Torches have a mirrored finish and are rather more attractive.
The seller, Charlie says “Simply one of the best days of my life and a great thank you to all involved. I’m Selling the torch as I’ve been needing a new wheelchair for far too long and this will help hugely. My memories and photos are what I will treasure“. I find that somewhat sad that our NHS (which featured so highly in the Olympic opening ceremony) can’t provide a new wheelchair for Charlie so I really hope his auction does well.
