Royal Mail are all set for Christmas and have published their Christmas Planning website to help retailers and consumers gear up for the busiest time of the year.
The Christmas Planning site has a wealth of information including Royal Mail’s last posting dates for 2012 (If you’re thinking of using International Surface Mail you may have to post by the 28th September to ensure your present is delivered for Christmas!).
The site also promises that the new Royal Mail Delivery to Neighbour programme will be available nationally in time for Christmas. This will allow your postman to deliver items that are too big for your letterbox to a neighbour if no one is at home. Another option is Local Collect where consumers can opt to pick up their parcel from their nearest Post Office if they’ll be out when deliveries occur.
Returns are a fact of life when retailing online and Royal Mail have plans to make this as painless as possible for both consumers and businesses. In the New Year they’ll be offering an upgrade to their Packet Post Returns service by adding tracking.
Check out the Royal Mail website for Planning, e-tail insights, Top Tips, Royal Mail Christmas services and to see Royal Mail’s “A Christmas Story” video.
A look back at last year

“If you’re thinking of using International Surface Mail you may have to post by the 28th December to ensure your present is delivered for Christmas!” – Typo?
Thinking about Mail to Australia. I had a customer opt for Surface Mail to Australia because of the saving and because he was not worried about the extra time. Only a few days after I had posted it he left Feedback. So obviously I queried it. The Book had arrived. So obviously the fact that the parcel was clearly marked “Surface Mail” the Post was Surface Rate etc was ignored and it was put into the Air Mail Sack. Now service Like that is well…excellent.

Yea, when they don’t loose them…..
Shame they cant get their smartstamp in order… how long has it been now?
Im shocked that they have managed to make a xmas guide!
yeah and how about all airmail packages that go surface.?
royal mail bleat on about targets and percentages being met,
they seem not to grasp that if your package is in the 3 0r 4 percent that go wrong, you need more than a book of stamps ,or the sod off and find better attitude from customer services,
