Amazon announced today the launch of Amazon Wine, a marketplace offering customers more than a thousand wines crafted by wineries around the USA.
The new store features easy-to-use shopping tools to help customers explore great wines and offers access to rich details directly from winemakers, such as tasting notes, recommended food pairings and total case production.
Starting today, customers can ship up to six bottles of their favorite wine for $9.99. At launch, shipping will be available to California, Connecticut, Florida, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, Nevada, North Carolina, Oregon, Washington, Wyoming and the District of Columbia, with more coming soon.
Search and discoverability is made easy with details directly from winemakers, including tasting notes and food pairing suggestions. Buyers can pick from Red, White, Rosé and Sparkling or simply start shopping by grape variety such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot or my favourite Pinot Grigio. It’s also a fantastic opportunity for independent winemakers of all sizes to connect with millions of Amazon customers.
I’m liking the site a lot, it’s got everything from a $0.94 mini bottle of Richards Wild Irish Red all the way up to an tasty Armand De Brignac Ace of Spades Champagne at $100,000.00. I’d probably stick to the more moderately priced wine not having a spare hundred thousand dollars to spare, but I could spend hours choosing a few cases ready for Christmas if they only shipped to the UK.
