As well as upping the “” on eBay Germany from two to four per day, since the 18th of November eBay have been running Super Sunday events to boost Christmas sales. Called “Sonntagsbescherung” the Sunday deals events are similar to the Sunday Spectaculars held in the UK.
€6million revenue say chartixx
Marketplace sales analysis tool specialists, chartixx, have analyzed the eBay Germany Sunday deals and reveal that the past four weekends have produced over €6million in sales from the Sonntagsbescherung promotions. They have also achieved the biggest one day deal in terms of total revenue and number of items sold.
Every Sunday since November, 18th to December, 16th eBay advertise the upcoming WOW! Daily Deals online, on radio and ad in print in the Sunday Newspaper “Bild am Sonntag”. On Sunday’s eBay highlight up to 38 special deals (with limited time to buy) from 8am to 12pm clock.
Over the first four Sonntagsbescherung, from 143 selected products, eBay generated over €6million net revenue (€6,171,345.93) and sold over 100,000 units.
13,875 sales and of €610,500 revenue from one listing
The most successful Sunday Event ran on December, 2nd with more than € 2.5 million in sales and over 43,054 units sold. On this Sunday eBay Germany ran the biggest day-deal by revenue and by units. The eBay seller , managed by Deltatecc GmbH, sold a 24-piece cutlery set by Villeroy & Boch Piemont 13,875 times and thus achieved a turnover of €610,500 in 16 hours. That’s over 14 sales per minute from one listing! The silverware was part of the eBay advertisments on radio and a display ad in the “Bild am Sonntag” newspaper. The seller confirmed to chartixx that on Monday every last set of cutlery was despatched to customers.
On the first Sunday only two items were sold out, but last Sunday 10 of the 38 deals sold out demonstrating the eBay are hitting the right audience. Across all the eBay deals Chartixx is seeing a a conversion of almost 5% of items sold.
Which categories are hot in Germany?
The most successful categories for units sold in the eBay Sunday Event are “Apparel & Accessories” followed by “Living” and then the top-selling category “Computers & Tablets”. If you look at the conversion by category, then offers a different picture. This clearly leads the “Music” category with 15.5% against the category “Office Furniture” (11.5%) and “Tickets” (10.3%).
