It has been announced by eBay that Jack Abraham will be leaving eBay Inc. in the next few weeks. Abraham came to eBay in 2010 when it acquired Milo, which he had founded in 2008. He has most recently been heading up the eBay local marketplaces team and is also the brains behind the Pinterest-like “eBay Feed” which launched on eBay.com last year. We explained how it was created.
It’s reported that Abraham will act as an adviser to eBay once he has departed while working on an specified “entrepreneurial endeavor”.
People come and go from a business like eBay, and doubtless for someone like Abraham, who is driven, entrepreneurial and creative, working within a big company like eBay Inc. will have it’s frustrations.
But it’s hard to look at this as anything but a bit of a blow. When Chris was in New York last year, he met Abraham and other execs and was hopeful that this new generation of leadership would breathe fresh life into eBay’s marketplace business. We called him a “talent to watch” last year.
