If you list on eBay.com you have until July the 1st to ensure that your pictures meet the new eBay standards. If you list on eBay UK you’ve got little longer, but only until the Autumn.
If you’re images aren’t up to scratch then eBay will simply end your listings. All photos must be at least 500 pixels on the longest side of the picture, photos cannot have borders, added text or added artwork. Also when you list a used item outside of books, movies, music, and video games, you cannot use the eBay catalogue stock photo in the primary photo position – you have to shoot your own image.
Whirly from The Whirlpool Bath Shop has been working on his own images and has found a fantastic website which can make removing backgrounds from images quick and simple.
ClippingMagic is free and you simply upload your image, paint out the background that you don’t want, paint the object itself in green and then download the result.
Below we’ve got an example of Whirly’s image before and after ClippingMagic. Neatly cut out the image is now ready for eBay, Amazon, other marketplaces and of course his own website. You can see the final image on The Whirlpool Bath Shop Website.
The service is free while ClippingMagic is in alpha. However you can sign up now to get freebies when the service comes out of alpha!
Of course if you already have so many images that you don’t have time to process them yourself then there’s always our friends at Remove The Background who can do it for you. However if you only have a few photos or want to perfect your new images as you shoot them then while ClippingMagic is free it looks like it’s a great utility.

“Bling it” is quite good software and fairly easy to use. It isn’t free, but not too expensive. I’ve been using it for a few years now.
I had some good customer service from them, so happy to recommend.
I use bling it. Quick and easy.
