At seven pm this evening, two dozen of the finest ecommerce football teams will battle it out for the Tamebay Ecommerce Cup 2013. Ably managed by Genie and the Geek there’s a 50% increase in the number of teams entering but I’m already wondering how over 150 thirsty footballers will fit into the bar afterwards.
Hot contenders Seko Synergy will take on last year’s victors, Genie and the Geek, both teams were tough to beat last year so that’ll be one to watch. The match everyone will want to watch will be Amazon take on eBay, both of who will have to face specialist marketplace Autotrader who are in the same group. They’ll be spared the teams from the Flubit and Play.com marketplaces, who will face each other in Group A.
Channel management companies are well represented with ChannelAdvisor, ChannelGrabber and eSellerPro all drawn in Group C. Linnworks, Brightpearl and Seller Dynamics will have to win their group stages for a crack at the others in the quarters and semifinals if they get through.
Furthest to travel are Wholesale Clearance from the South Coast and Seller Dynamics from Scotland, others like iwoca and StuffUSell are London based. We’ll see if 3PLogistics can deliver the goods in their debut along with more unknowns that could surprise last years contestants with new entrants from Ford, Zoocha, Rakuten Linkshare, and RAZsor.
Metapack and Kurt Geiger are back as are the guys from Just Giving who were very charitable last year. However we really don’t know this year’s form as teams may well have new recruits for 2013 and with 8 new teams playing anyone could win on the night.

The Trophy and Medals
Once again we’d like to give a shout out and huge thank you to Neil from www.trophies247.co.uk for supplying the magnificent engraved cup for the tournament as well as medals for first, second and third placed teams. Trophies 247 stock a huge selection of trophies medals and awards as well as offering free engraving and we know Genie and The Geek are itching to add more to their collection – we’re looking forward to seeing them go into battle as last year was a close run final and we hear there are some crack teams entering the competition this year – some have even been practising regularly in the run up to the tournament.
Wholesale Clearance Goals
As a fun extra the guys at Wholesale Clearance are running a £1000 prize competition to guess the total number of goals scored in the tournament. The prize is Your prize £1,000.00 RRP of stock for you to keep or preferably sell online, at a market or to your friends and family to maybe kick start your own business.
Come and join the fun
If you’re in London why not come down to Wembley tonight to cheer on your favourites? Kick off is at 7pm and doubtless after the final teams will be in the bar to claim bragging rights, so look forward to seeing you there.

Fortunately for the teams there are showers at Wembley – I’m thinking the teams are going to want to warm up and get dried as the weather isn’t looking great for this evening!
Good luck to all!
