eBay are once again holding a Bank Holiday Bonanza sale promising prices of up to 60% off. We love these sales, a) because they drive traffic which will be very welcome after Friday’s outage fiasco, and b) because we can’t resist browsing the selection of goods on sale and almost invariably end up buying something.
We’ve had a rustle through, and here are our Top Picks from the selection of goods on offer:
Samsung Galaxy S4
Yes we know it’s boring and predictable, but it’s not easy to get a decent discount on these things and £429.99 is a pretty hot price.
We (meaning I, Dan’s not got one yet) love the and while there’s some dispute on which is the absolute best handset on the market, if you’re looking for a top of the range smart phone the S4 will have to be on your list for consideration.
If you need any more convincing then check out our review of the Galaxy S4 and then whip out your PayPal account and buy one. Absolutely guaranteed (even if you’re an iPhone lover) that you’ll be pleased you bought one.
Petrol Lawn Mower
It’s been a hot summer but it’s a Bank Holiday which means it’s going to rain and within days your lawn will be turning from brown and dead to a luscious green and about six inches long.
You’re going to want something decent to keep it in check and this 20″ Self Propelled 5.5HP will be just the ticket.
Self propelled and a powerful petrol engine makes such a difference to the mundane chore of cutting the grass. If you’ve still got a little electric mower, once you’ve tried a petrol powered model you’ll wonder why you never got one sooner.
3 Cycle Car Rack
It’s over a year since the Olypmics propelled cycling to the top of casual sports enjoyed by millions and cycling is now more popular than ever.
Don’t get caught with the same mundane cycle route, take the family out for the day and take your cycles with you. Easy to fit, this and would be great for cycling holidays and long distance bike rides.
The rack simply clips onto your car boot with adjustable arms and protective rubber absorbers and when you’re back home it folds flat for easy storage.
Tool Kit
Everything you need for those DIY jobs around the house – described as ideal for Plumbers, Builders, Electrician or Carpenters, this holds all the basic tools you need for household chores in a soft tote bag.
We’re not sure how this one slipped past eBay’s filters as it contains a “Viper knife”, a “9mm Snap Off Blade Knife”, and an “18mm Snap Off Blade Knife” – Stanley style knives are banned from sale on eBay so a set containing three on the eBay Bank Holiday sale really is a Bonanza!
Still it’s a handy enough tool kit and if you’re the sort of person who’s tools have a habit of disappearing until you’re left with an empty box this would be a great refresher set. So long as you assiduously put your tools back in the tote after user you’ll always be able to lay your hands on the wrench, saw (or choice of three knives) that you need.
Cup Cake Maker
If you’ve had time to play with your kids over the holidays you might be running out of activities to keep them occupied. Why not get them in the kitchen knocking out cup cakes with this . Get the some icing and cake decorations and they’ll be busy for hours and as a bonus you might end up with something edible to go with your morning coffee or afternoon tea.
Of course you also might end up with a kitchen in a terrible mess, but at least it’s safer then letting the kids near the oven and burning themselves.
Hours of fun to be had and if the rain does continue at least you’ll be able to keep you children occupied.
AA Pressure Washer
I’m not sure that having an “AA” stamp on your makes it work better, but if you’ve been having barbeques on the patio and drinks on the deck it could be handy for the clean up.
Winter is coming and it’s time to clean the moss off the deck before it turns to slime and you’ll be able to get your paths and car sparkling clean as a bonus.
Quick tip from personal experience, if you’ve ever had ivy growing up your house it’s nigh on impossible to clear the trail of roots that’s left behind when you cut it down. Leave six months or so to die and dry out and then pressure wash your brickwork and the snail trail of ivy roots will at last be eradicated forever. Don’t forget to weed kill the ivy to stop it growing back!
Fujitsu AH512 Windows 8 Laptop
Standard issue for writing Tamebay on, these are great laptops for not a lot of money. At under £260 you’re getting a with 2.20 GHz processor, half a terabyte hard drive, 4 GB of memory, Windows 8 and a DVD read/writer built in. You can even connect to your HD TV with the via the HDMI connection.
We’ll leave you to read the full specs on the eBay listing if you’re interested, but to be honest I wouldn’t bother. If you’re looking for a fast reliable laptop for work and just want to browse the web, email, word processing, spreadsheets and of course to create your online listings and run your multi-channel management software this laptop is more than adequate for the job.
Indoor Remote Control Helicoptor
An eBay sale would never be the same without the chance to buy a . We know they’re not that robust so don’t last long (although this one has a metal frame which the seller says has proven to withstand dozens of crashes) but they’re great fun.
At £14.99 and free carriage it’s not a lot of money and hours of fun can be had with one of these, not as you’re probably thinking for the kids at home, but for you in your massive warehouse when you’re bored and have nothing better to do than wait for the courier before you lock up and go home.
Every warehouse should have some toys and at under fifteen quid this is a must have accessory (Top tip: Map out a route across the warehouse beams, through the racking and around the lights. Slowest employee to complete the course buys the beers on a Friday)

As per usual though, if you shop around the high street and other websites, these items can be found for less.
e.g. an equivalent indoor helicopter could have been bagged last week at B&M stores for £10.00.
