We were utterly inundated by email and calls early last week when our ever vigilant and helpful Tamebay readers (that means you!) reported that they hadn’t been paid by Amazon. On the 15th of October, lots of you reported delays in Amazon “disbursement“.
Even if everything is in order and you’ve got good and fluid cashflow, it is always a bugger not to get paid when you expect it. And some of the sums mentioned were quite substantial and hair-raising. One Tamebay correspondent reported that just shy of a quarter of a million quid was going to be late hitting his account.
He had everything in order and could sustain the delay…. for a week or two. But it really must have been squeaky bum time. And of course, if you’re reliant on a payment coming in, even small sums can make you reach for the brown trousers.
We put in some calls and enquiries to Amazon HQ but didn’t get much (Any!) info back (and if we had, we would have passed it on).
But I do like to follow up. Has everyone been paid up as due? How long did it take?

We actually got paid on the correct date as normal (Thrusday), but the only problem we could see is it still does not show the previous dismemberment balance as it normally does.
No payments have been received and in seller central it’s tracking payments from the 1st and it won’t finish until 29th and then it normally takes a week to receive it.
It couldn’t be a worse time for this to happen in terms of cashflow as we have wages, rent etc all coming out next week plus the VAT bill as well.
This time of year is always tough and this has added another element to that.
Called Amazon but nothing they could do!
Although the UK disbursement was one day later than usual, it arrived in our account on the normal day, so it took 3 working days as opposed to 4 working days it normally takes.
I have learnt from when paypal have issues, in not too interfere by changing bank details or manually applying refunds to duplicate payments, just let them get on with fixing it and it normally works out ok in the end.

Our disbursement arrived on time (Today). I can never understand why Amazon keeps the money for 2 weeks, but even worse is that it sends the payment on a Tuesday and it doesn’t land until a Monday (Saturday it is available with out bank).
These days payments should be no more than 24 hours, but as we all know Amazon make all the rules all the time whether we like it or not.
Does anyone one think that this is to do with the Amazon posting a loss and that they were using your money to boost the profits!!.
No, How would that boost profits?
