Amazon Coins are coming to the UK, and they’re going to give four quid to all existing and new Kindle Fire owners.
Amazon Coins is supposed to be an easy way for Kindle Fire customers to spend money in the Amazon Appstore. It offersapp and game developers another way to drive traffic, downloads and increase monetization. There’s no integration work for them to do and the developer earns the same regardless of whether a user pays them with Amazon coins or with real money.
I’m still not sure what to make of Amazon Coins, but then I’m not the type of person to play games and pay for upgrades, although I know of plenty of kids whose parents have unwittingly paid for upgrades when their kids have been playing!
The one thing that is likely to happen is people who find four quid for free will probably spend it, and that’s welcome news for developers aiming at the UK market.
