There’s just a week to go before Children in Need kicks off on Friday the 15th November however the charity fund raising is all ready in full swing.
DFS, who have opened an outlet on eBay are aiming to raise £1m for Children in Need this year. Alex Lyle, DFS eBay Store Manager told me that they’ve already hauled three sofas to the top of the UK’s best known three peaks, Scarfell Pike, Ben Nevis and Snowden. This week they’re selling for your sofa, both and cushions as well as four celebrity designed exclusives.
, , and all created an exclusive design and they’re selling for a tenner with £3.99 carriage. The entire £4.54 profit from each cushion DFS delivers goes to BBC Children in Need.

I was quite interested in the and wanted to find out how they could keep up with eBay selling requirements when typically it can take anything up to 12 weeks to get a sofa delivered. It turns out the DFS are using eBay to sell off cancelled orders and ex-showroom furniture. If a sofa is ordered and then cancelled it will quite likely already have been made and shipped – DFS would much rather sell it on eBay for a quick turnaround than pay for storage until the next customer orders that particular model and colour.
This makes a lot of sense for DFS, quick turnaround of stock, but their customer still get the same service as they would if they purchased in store. It’s the same 24 hour customer service, the same 10 year guarantee on all sofas or a 2 year guarantee on all occasional, dining, bedroom furniture, mattresses and garden & conservatory furniture.
The DFS Outlet store was designed by eSeller Solutions (the guys that designed Tamebay’s logo for us). eSeller Solutions also donated the Children in Need charity landing page for DFS.
If you’re also involved in Children in Need fundraising we’d love to hear about it. We can’t promise to feature everyone but we will be putting up our favourite listings later in the week.
