eBay feedback concession for delayed imports to Argentina

According to an announcement on eBay.com, eBay will be making concessions to eBay sellers who have received poor feedback or DSRs from buyers in Argentina.

Recent changes in the South American company mean that more stringent import and customer rules and procedures have been put in place and this significantly delaying parcels arriving in the country.

According to the eBay announcement, which you can read in full here:

“Due to stricter enforcement of import and customs regulations and duties in Argentina, we understand that eBay buyers in Argentina may currently face delays in receiving their items. For the most recent developments on the situation, please visit the Administracion Federal website.

eBay is committed to delivering great experiences to customers. We have contacted buyers in Argentina and asked them to allow extra time for their items to be received. We have also put additional policies in place to help protect you, our valued sellers.

While we review the situation, we will provide the following protections for impacted transactions:

– Automatic feedback removal of neutral and negative feedback, as well as any low detailed seller ratings for shipping time, along with any associated feedback.

– Any eBay Buyer Protection cases opened by Argentinian buyers beginning November 17, 2013, for item not received that we determine are the result of this situation will not count toward your seller performance rating regardless of the outcome of the case.”

I cannot imagine there is a great deal of ecommerce traffic going from the UK to Argentina.

It may also be a an opportunity, if you keep an eye on such things, to block Argentina from your overseas selling list to save future hassle.

  1. Blocked all South/Central American countries last year. They all seem as bad as each other when it comes to delivery times.

  2. often it is not actually the country itself at fault its knowing their process and methods then choosing the right service ,
    For instance
    Germany is a nightmare if you use some couriers though usually a doddle if you use royal mail

  3. The feedback for delivery is actually for despatch (or dispatch if you prefer) time, not the overall delivery time, so delays in transit shouldn’t affect that rating, but buyers continue to misuse, or not understand it.

    The problem I see with all these countries where delivery is slow, is that buyers can now get a refund through eBay without sufficient delivery time having been allowed. In light of this, we now only use tracked services for all overseas deliveries.

  4. Argentina have further tightened package import rules. Anybody buying a package from an international website will have to complete a customs declaration form for each package purchased and collect each package from a local customs office. Contents will be examined at the customs office and duties paid on all imports. Packages will no longer be delivered to the registered address.

    Ebay should now go further also and cancel all feedback arrangements for items shipped to Argentina

  5. I sell ‘on eBay’ but Argentinian customs will not know this.

    The customs label will simply state the cost of the goods within along with my return address and signature.

  6. What about Brazil? Out of 30 orders we had
    26% non delivery claims in December and 3 negatives
    eBay are not viewing this as a problem
    We blocked the country in January
    Anybody else having problems?

  7. And Russia also now require paperwork to be presented when parcels are collected. It seems that the currency crisis in countries with softer currencies and its implications for imported packages has passed ebay by. The simple answer is if you want to protect feedback and limit paybacks don’t ship outside the EU, North America and Australia/New Zealand. Any other course of action is taking a big risk with your ebay empire as ebay are not interested in protecting it.
