It’s fair to say that in the eBay family, PayPal is the most imaginative wing and payments has the most potential to develop with emerging technology. I also find David Marcus, PayPal head honcho, one of the more interesting people in the eBay Inc. fold.
He hasn’t lost his entrepreneurial curiosity having moved from the more cut and thrust environments of start-ups despite now being head of a corporate giant. It’s hard to judge, having never met him, but he seems to me like a good egg.
So I was interested to hear his recent thoughts on tech trends that PayPal and payments may be able to surf in future. Not least because he’s looking at these things but that he provides a personal, insightful viewpoint in this article.
For what it’s worth, I buy his enthusiasm for Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) but remain something of a sceptic on wearables. But all in all an interesting read.
