With the ever-increasing use of mobile devices such as phones and tablets being used for online buying, brilliant images on your online listings have never been more vital. And, with the development of technology, the means of creating brilliant images have never been more diverse.

before-after1

And for the mobile “super-shoppers” it all starts with the images. They aren’t prolific readers. They just want to be hooked in with a highly seductive visual image and hit click to buy.

It used to be such a hassle and a pain to make such images. Now it is much easier to take really professional pictures, even just by using those ever more ubiquitous phones and tablets. One of the core competencies of an ecommere professional these days must be the production of brilliant illustrative snaps for your sales. And with very serviceable DSLRs clocking in at just £100, there really is no excuse not to release your inner photographer.

That raises a question. Why are so many images online still so poor?

The guys at Remove the Background are seeking to help sellers take better photos for their ecommerce listings and this instructive, step-by-step tutorial that looks at some of the more basic features on your digital camera will be of interest to many. And, as their photos show, the results speak for themselves.

  1. Have used remove the background a few times. The problem is that the photos are so good, that other sellers pinch my photos! eBay doesn’t seem to do anything about it when reported. Would be great if remove the background would have an option to put a custom watermark on the image.

  2. Hi Bhavin,

We can do this for you no problem. We offer a standard watermarking service for eBay sellers – adding a fully eBay compliant watermark (ebay user ID or company name only, no more than 5% of image, transparency no more than 50%). Just drop us an email at [email protected] and we’ll add this to your eBay templates.

    Cheers, Catherine
