It’s a pretty remarkable achievement by anyone’s measure: this week Shopify have announced they have 100k online shops operational globally using their platform. Hats off.
You can read their celebratory post here from founder Tobi Lütke.
He notes: “Shopify is now home to businesses from over 150 countries around the world. We host small mom-and-pop shops, big brands like Google and Tesla, and everything in between. To date, Shopify merchants have sold almost 4 billion dollars worth of products.
I’ve witnessed thousands of people accomplish life-long dreams of growing their own successful business, and nothing makes me happier. This is the best thing about working at Shopify: seeing all of the incredible things our community does with our platform.”
It’s inspiring stuff but I must say I don’t know a lot about the product. Clearly it is going great guns and is popular with many. Do you use Shopify? It would be great to hear your experiences if you do. What underpins this success?

I’ve been using Shopify for about a month for my 2nd site and I can recommend it hugely. Having struggled to get to grips with Magento Go (which I still use for my main site), I would definitely recommend Shopify. The support and help pages are great and the 3rd party apps are plentiful and decent. The coding in each of the templates is editable which is good for those who aspire to learn a bit of CSS.
